Rapid Cycling

Day seven of the medication change: It’s becoming clear that I am having fairly rapid mood shifts over the course of a few days. Friday I was hypomanic and didn’t sleep at all, and Sunday I crashed and slept most of the day. I also forgot to eat. Today (Monday) I am hypomanic again. I have been on a cleaning spree, which is pretty unusual for me, as I’m not a fan of housework. I woke up early and went grocery shopping in the morning, washed the living room windows, wiped down the chairs and tables on the front porch and emptied and filled the shredder. It takes effort to sit still and concentrate. These are all common symptoms of hypomania.

I don’t know how long it will last, but at least it is very mild. My medications are working hard to keep everything at a reasonable level, and not spiral out into mania or depression. Ya gotta have love for the drugs.

  1. These damn things take so much time before you can be fairly sure how much or how little the net benefit is. Keep looking out for yourself and keep us posted. All the best … Chris
