Vulnerability?

—

I made a very novice video about bipolar and creativity. I was going to post it to my social media accounts, and while there are compelling reasons to share, I am mildly manic, and it’s best to keep to myself. My version of shouting from the roof tops, which I desire to do when manic, looks like this: posting more, thinking up big projects, and wanting to spend lots of money. All of which I almost did today. I am back to taking my anti-psychotic at the full dose, to avoid any further mania. I’d bumped it down because I was upset about gaining weight, but here I am again, needing to put my mental health over my vanity.

I have found a way to channel my energy. I am making time lapse videos of creating my art, and that is a reasonable project that doesn’t require money. It’s important to find a healthy alternative to my manic behavior, until a time when the medicine is in full effect.

  1. Great video and your works look beautiful…. It is very brave to share your bipolar experiences with strangers. It helps, tho. I say that because I know your blog has helped me.. Keep up the good work.

    1. Thank you! I like my little corner of the internet where I can express myself. Today, October 10th is World Mental Health Day! So we should all treat ourselves with kindness, today and always.
